James Pilkington

Director of Goalkeeping / Head Coach

James Pilkington brings a wealth of experience to Ascend Goalkeeping Academy, having played semi-professionally in both the UK and the US. Born in Liverpool, England, James developed his craft at elite youth academies including Everton, Blackpool, and Exeter City. His playing journey led him to the U.S., where he competed for IU Indy and the Indy Gladiators before fully transitioning into coaching. James now leads our goalkeeping program with a deep understanding of the position and a passion for developing the next generation of keepers. Along the way, he shared the field with top talents such as Antonee Robinson and Ollie Watkins.

James’ playing resume includes time with Everton Academy U14s, Blackpool Academy U16s, Exeter City Academy U18s, and Liverpool FC U23s. He also suited up for Marine FC in the UK, as well as IU Indy and the Indy Gladiators in the U.S. His international experience and high-level exposure provide Ascend Goalkeeping Academy athletes with an invaluable edge in their training and development.
