James Pilkington
Director of Goalkeeping | Head Coach

James Pilkington brings extensive playing and coaching experience to Ascend Goalkeeping Academy, shaped by a development pathway across both the UK and the United States. Born in Liverpool, England, James progressed through elite youth academies including Everton, Blackpool, and Exeter City, gaining early exposure to high-level training environments and professional standards.

His playing career continued in the U.S., where he competed at the collegiate and semi-professional levels with IU Indy and the Indy Gladiators, before transitioning fully into coaching. Throughout his journey, James trained and competed alongside top-level players such as Antonee Robinson and Ollie Watkins, further shaping his understanding of elite performance environments.

Today, James leads Ascend’s goalkeeping program with a deep technical understanding of the position and a clear vision for long-term goalkeeper development. His international background and professional experience allow Ascend athletes to train within a structured, detail-driven environment built to prepare goalkeepers for the next level.

Ascend Goalkeeping Academy is proudly club agnostic, meaning we accept goalkeepers from all clubs, high schools, and backgrounds. Our focus is solely on the individual development of each goalkeeper, regardless of where they play.
